The one-day event for Italian export finance...
This event took place entirely in Italian.
TXF Italy was a one-day event for Italian exporters, both large and small, and all those who work with them. Hosted by SACE, it was an opportunity to discuss the latest trends and opportunities in the market.
This focused, smaller event was a chance to talk to everyone in the room, to learn, and to get in front of the people you needed to meet to make your export financing deals happen! Plus, with SACE forecasting continued growth in Italian exports (+4.5% annual average over the next 3 years), it was an ideal time to meet with the industry in Rome!
We were proud to convene 100 borrowers, exporters, financiers, government representatives, insurers, law firms, ECAs and more from the region.
Topics will include:
The Geopolitics of Europe and Italy’s place in it all
Italian Exporters: Adjusting to a new world order
Understanding the Italian export strategy
Internationalisation: Exploring opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa
ECA comparisons
Going digital: How trade digitisation is being incorporated in Italy
Striking a balance: The Public/Private Dynamic
Supporting and internationalising Italian SMEs
SACE Product update

08:30 Registration & morning refreshments
09:00 Chair's opening remarks
09:10 Government address - Michele Geraci, Undersecretary of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development
09:30 Welcome address from SACE
09:50 The Geopolitics of Europe and Italy’s place in it all
We take a look at how the current political landscape across Europe is challenging exporters but also giving rise to new opportunities. In what is proving to be a particularly political turbulent time across Europe, how has the outlook changed for Italian exporters and borrowers? What impact will the new populist government have on trade and economic policy?
10:20 Exporters Panel: Adjusting to a new world order
Exporters are adjusting to a new reality in terms of markets where their products are becoming more in demand. We take a look at how the system has adjusted to the ‘new world of markets’, including new construction markets in sub-Saharan Africa and energy markets in the Middle East and North Africa. We also find out the views of key exporters on ECA support they are given in the market, and hear suggestions on how that might be improved.
11:00 Morning networking break
12:00 Understanding the Export finance support scheme & Exploring Internationalisation
We step back and take a wider look at the export and trade finance community in Italy. What are the levels of collaboration across the supply chain? To which extent does the Italian export finance scheme promote Italian exports in the global markets, and how does it rank compared with others? What are the future growth plans? What have the challenges been in internationalising your business to new regions, and what support have they been given? Collaboration with ECAs and best practices in the markets.
12:40 ECA access and offerings in Italy
What do other European ECAs offer, and how do their products compare to the Italian system? Could SACE and other institutions learn lessons from one another’s ways of working? From direct lending, to provisions to cover sanctions snapback, to “national interest” rather than “national content” models, our panel talks about experiences with different ECAs across Europe.
13:20 Networking Lunch
14:50 Striking a balance: The Public/Private Dynamic
Our panelists take a look at the benefits of using non-ECA finance, and look at how people are using it. They will also explore the question of when it is the best time to go private over ECA, as well as discuss what the responsibilities are of the private lender: How do they keep their customers best needs at the centre of deals?
15:30 Supporting and internationalising Italian SMEs
Small to Medium Enterprises are the backbone of most economies. Despite this, they often don’t get the support that they need or access to the same opportunities as larger companies when it comes to export finance. These companies take a look at what is being done to help boost their support, and discuss where it can be improved.
16:10 Chair’s closing remarks
16:15 Networking Drinks
Good transport links and accommodation, great weather, great heritage, a strong exporting community, and a proactive and growing ECA – all this makes Rome the perfect destination, wherever in the world you are coming from.
The conference will take place at the absolutely stunning Galleria del Cardinale in the Palazzo Colonna. It is one of the oldest and largest private palaces of Rome.
Its construction began in 14th century and lasted for over 500 years. This has led to the overlapping of different architectural styles, interiors and exteriors, which characterize and reflect the different periods.
