Sian Aspinall wins TXF Lifetime Achievement Award

Commodities Editor
TXF was pleased to present Sian Aspinall with a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to the commodity finance industry at the 2026 edition of the TXF Global Commodity Finance event.

TXF is pleased to announce that Sian Aspinall has become the latest recipient of the TXF Commodity Finance Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented in Amsterdam at the 2026 edition of the TXF Global Natural Resources & Commodity Finance event, alongside the TXF Perfect 10 Deals of the Year.

Sian has spent more than 12 years in leading roles at BPL, serving as technical director, managing director, and finally group CEO since 2022. In total her career in the credit and political risk insurance industry spans more than three decades. Sian has recently retired from day-to-day activities at BPL but remains a non-executive director.

Over the years, she has played a pivotal role in the growth and evolution of trade and commodity finance, earning enormous respect across the market not only for her commercial achievements, but also for the integrity, mentorship, and generosity she brings to the industry every day.

Sian said to TXF: "It was such a great honour accepting the award and a really fitting way to round off my career in an industry I have truly loved."

At the black-tie awards dinner in Amsterdam, Sian raised money for Embrace, a UK-based charity that supports families living with disabilities. Established in 1954, Embrace supports families living with complex disabilities, providing guidance, practical support and inclusive activities that help ensure no family faces their journey alone. Across the event donations from attendees totalled £4,000. Find out more about Embrace’s work and consider donating through this link.

To mark this award, Sian is taking on a fundraising challenge alongside her daughter, Carys. Together, they will attempt to complete the Braunton to Meeth section of the Tarka Trail in Devon - a remarkable 32-mile journey in just 24 hours. This is also the longest wheelchair-accessible trail in the UK. Sian will be pushing Carys the entire way.

Past winners of TXF’s lifetime achievement award include John MacNamara, Bob Angliss, and Jean-Marie Le Fouest.
