Exiled: Christine Jordan, Standard Chartered Bank
Today’s Exile is Christine Jordan, Head of Development & Agency Finance for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France at Standard Chartered Bank. A true international, Christine’s career has been shaped by confident leaders who are driven by strong values that they aren’t afraid to speak up for. She’s determined to use her Exile not just to celebrate the export finance leaders of today, but to champion the next generation.
From her past
Christine chose Edna Schöne, Executive Board Member at Euler Hermes. Edna was one of Christine’s first mentors, and has remained supportive throughout her career. Not afraid to stand up against inappropriate behaviour, Edna has shaped Euler Hermes into a more modern organisation that truly supports its clients.
From her present
Christine’s pick from her current role is Yoshi Ichikawa, Managing Director & Head of Europe at Standard Chartered Bank - and Christine’s current line manager. A standout leader, Yoshi has taught Christine that feedback is a gift, and that you can be a strong leader without compromising on your values. His speciality of using football analogies to illuminate everyday challenges could be very useful on an island!
From her future
It would be too difficult to pick just one person, so Christine opted for the next ‘FEX’ generation - those who are newer to the industry but there to drive change. Their perspectives on the likes of AI tools and unique challenges of the future are refreshing and vital to the export finance industry.
Bonus Round
If she could pick anyone at all to join her, Christine would choose the philosopher and historian Hannah Arendt. Her bright mind and vocalness against inequality are qualities that we could use in today’s fractured world - perhaps she could bring us closer together.
Catch Christine and the rest of the export finance community at TXF Global in Copenhagen this week!
Tune in next week, where we’ll be speaking to Chris Moscardelli, CFO at SOO Green.
