UK exporters have had a challenging time over the past few years. In this candid discussion, TXF is pleased to host a panel of regulators and financiers to look at practical solutions for overcoming pressure points for UK exporters, with a particular focus on mobilising finance for SMEs wanting to access international markets.

Support is available from banks and UK Export Finance (UKEF)/Department for International Trade (DIT), but it’s not always easy to get it in front of potential exporters, and there are impediments to banks onboarding smaller customers. We discuss how a more collaborative approach can help support smaller deal sizes and smaller companies thinking about exporting.

Some of the key issues the experts will be discussing include:

  • How do SMEs access finance to exports and what’s stopping them?
  • What actual support is available and how easy is it to get?
  • Can digitisation be engaged more effectively to support exports?
  • How can financiers work with exporters at an early stage in order to assist them?

Participants:

Stephen Head, Head of Smaller Deals and Emerging Sectors, UK Export Finance (UKEF)

Mark Ling, Head of Trade & Working Capital, Santander UK

Paul McComb, Director UK Exports, Department for International Trade (DIT)

Andrew Woolfson, Vice President, Europe, Middle East & Africa, AirFinance

Geoffrey de Mowbray, Chief Executive Officer, Dints International

Jeanette Jones, Director of Business Development, Fineon Exchange

Moderator: Katharine Morton, Head of Trade, Treasury and Risk, TXF
